Breeders’ rights
The VBN is represented in the breeders’ rights commission of the AIPH (International Association of Horticultural Producers). This commission aims to apply international breeders’ law between the various links of the floriculture chain. This is done primarily by maintaining contact with all of these links. This is achieved through cooperation with the European breeders’ rights bureau in Angers, CPVO (Community Plant Variety Office), the office of the International Breeders’ Rights Convention in Geneva, UPOV (International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants, the Dutch breeders’ rights bureau (Breeders’ Rights Council) and Ciopora International, the organization representing the interests of processors and propagators.
Secondly, the breeders’ rights commission develops resources. A checklist has been designed in this context that can be used by growers and processors in negotiating delivery of basic materials. The checklist deals with all the issues that may arise in a delivery contract for basic material.
The breeders’ rights checklist can be downloaded from this page.
