A number of legal activities are performed by the VBN. For example, the arbitration committee was set up together with the VGB (Association of Wholesale Trade in Horticultural Products). The purpose of the Arbitration Committee is to rule on disputes between growers and buyers.

The VBN is represented in the breeders’ rights commission of the AIPH (International Association of Horticultural Producers). This commission aims to apply international breeders’ law between the various links of the floriculture chain.
