The success of the Dutch flower auctions is greatly determined by logistics. After being sold at auction, fresh products supplied daily must be processed and transported to the point of sale as quickly as possible. It is important for good logistical resources to be available, such as trays, containers and boxes. Uniformity and standardization of packaging are essential. Virtually all transport packaging at the auctions is uniform.

All packaging approved by the VBN for flowers and plants has a unique VBN container code. The codes are a means of communication between the supplier, auctions and clients. The codes are collected in container code lists for cut flowers and plants.

The VBN has a central coordinating role in creating the packaging forms and supports cooperative projects and processes in auction logistics.

Sivepo is the organization that administers national auction packaging. Multi-use and single-use Normpack® plant trays, flower containers and flower boxes are part of this pool.
