The Association of Dutch Flower Auctions (VBN) has for a long time now been providing, in a wealth of formats, statistical market information on sales, supply and prices of floriculture products sold at the Dutch flower auctions.

As a result of mergers among the flower auctions, the VBN has been left with only two members since 1 January 2008: the auctions FloraHolland and Plantion. At the time of that last merger, a decision was also taken to rehouse the responsibility for management and publication of market information with FloraHolland's Market Information & Market Analysis department.

In 2010, FloraHolland introduced a new policy on disclosure to third parties of market information regarding auction sales and details of supply and prices. This new policy entails consequences for how much and how detailed the information can be that third parties are allowed to apply for. So that the VBN can keep in step with this, the VBN board has also been considering their own information policy, which has led to the following policy decision:

As of 1 September 2011, the VBN will cease providing any information amalgamated from its two member auctions regarding auction sales, details of supply or prices. From that date on, FloraHolland will, through its Market Information & Market Analysis department, be providing information that is based solely on FloraHolland's own auction sales (representing over 97% of auction turnover nationally) and that is in accordance with the FloraHolland information policy now in force. For Plantion, this job will be done by their own F&A department.

Annual statistical figures for VBN:

VBN annuals are issued on CD-ROM as of 2008. There is one CD with cut flowers figures and one with figures for plants.

The CD issued for 2010 figures will be the last one. From the 2012 issue (the data for 2011) onward, CDs will no longer be issued. The 2008, 2009 and 2010 CDs can still be ordered, for the following prices:

Cut flowers CD: €85

Plants CD: €85

Cut flowers and Plants CDs together: €145

These prices do not include VAT at 19%.
