On 1 October 2011, the Dendrobium in pot product specification will be amended on the following points:
· Minimum maturity stage for Dendrobium (except for D. nobile): requires at least one opened flower. This maturity stage is in force throughout the year. Durability research shows that this is possible without affecting quality.
· Description of the flower bud: there is a flower bud if it is 5 mm or larger. This brings it in line with the Phalaenopsis standard.
· Description of the flower spike: the flower spike is formed at the top of the shoot. Each branch with at least 5 flowers of buds is considered a flower spike, including any bifurcated branches. This is the requirement for A1. The minimum quality requirement is 3 flowers/buds per branch for A2.
· Change of grading value positions for Dendrobium: S09, the number of flowers per pot moves to grading feature 3, and S11, the number of branches per pot moves to grading feature 5. This makes it consistent with the current positions of the D. nobile and the Phalaenopsis. All grading features are required.
