As of July 1, 2011 the pre-treatment agent bactericide for cut flowers will no longer be available. Therefore you would be wise to buy a stock of the product which will be sufficient for your needs until December 2011. Be warned that, from January 2012 onwards, it is prohibited to use the product or keep it in stock. Permission to use the pre-treatment agent bactericide with the active component didecyldimethylammonium chloride will then be withdrawn. It is allowed to use up your stock until December 31, 2011, so you may continue to use the product until that date.
However, as of July 2011, bactericide (Chrysal OVB, bactoflor and Florissant 400) will no longer be available. Moreover, the product may well disappear from the shelves at an earlier date, if suppliers’ stocks are no longer replenished. Bactericide is an important pre-treatment agent. VBN approves its use for many varieties of cut flowers. The product ensures that bacterial growth in the water supply is inhibited and that water absorption in the flower is stimulated. At this moment it is not clear whether a new product with similar effects to bactericide will appear on the market.
