Solanum wird Lycianthes ab dem 1. Oktober 2017 (neue Namensliste)
2016 wurde die neue Namensliste veröffentlicht. Auf dieser Liste steht die in der EU vereinbarte, bevorzugte Bezeichnung. Alle 10 Jahre wird die Bezeichnung geändert, wenn sich in der Zwischenzeit die taxonomischen Erkenntnisse geändert haben. Dies betrifft u. a. die Gattung Solanum. Für Solanum rantonnetii und die dazugehörigen Kulturvarietäten lautet der neue botanische Name Lycianthes rantonnetii. Bei den Gartenpflanzen wurde eine neue Gruppe erstellt. Die betreffenden Kulturvarietäten werden ab dem 1. Oktober 2017 in diese neue Gruppe eingeordnet.
Für Lycianthes (Aussprache: Lü-ki-an-tes) wurde die Gruppe 3 10 035 00 erstellt. Sie umfasst die unten stehenden Produkte:
