Longevity

Longevity is an important aspect of the quality of flowers and plants and one of the most important purchasing criteria for consumers. It provides insight into how the flowers and plants respond in the consumer’s home and thus must be considered in, for example, quality labels or guarantee arrangements. Longevity tests provide important information that serves as input for optimising the transport and chain conditions under which the flowers and plants are transported. It also provides insight into matters like botrytis, flowering period, flower opening, maturity, etc.

In this section we inform you about what is important and what the standards are when conducting longevity tests. It is also possible to turn to the Post Harvest Knowledge Centre of Royal FloraHolland for assistance.
